With no idea what we gonna do in Romania I bought really cheap bus tickets (total price of one bigger pizza). And that’s really how this trip came together - spontaneously. Everyone in my circle kept telling me that Romania is really wild country and for sure I’ll be kidnapped or at least eaten by bears. Actually, any of these things hadn't been true. In the end, the Carpathian Mountains really touched my heart and I’ll do my best to show you why.
THE GREEN HUE PLATEAU
They are everywhere, literally. I mean, look at this! I'm just wondering how beautiful it must be in springtime when everything around blooms.
THE ENDLESS VALLEYS
One day I'm gonna explore them as much as possible. Keeping myself off the track, exploring these remote places on my own.
YOU WILL MEET 500 SHEEP AND 6 PEOPLE A DAY
This point very important for someone such as me. When I go to the mountains I want to escape from all the people and enjoy my time alone. I don’t want to meet crowds of people. So it’s pretty damn relaxing to have these gorgeous places just for yourself all day.
People keep coming to these “Instagram cliché places” and then they’re really surprised that there are crowds of people. But in the end, it’s just about the beautiful places, right? Of course not...
THE LEGENDARY MOUNTAIN RIDGE
The beautiful place just for yourself. This is definitely one of them. It’ll cost you about 2000 altitude meters.
MAGIC THAT HAPPENS EVERY EVENING
btw. you can buy this photograph (and more) as a print in my online store. You get 25% discount if you use code "25OFF". Thanks everyone who want to support my travels!
FAR REACHING MOUNTAIN RANGE
Wherever you look, there will be green endless hills. But really, how many sheep live on those peaks?
HITCHHIKING IS SUPER EASY HERE
The first hitch took us about 2 seconds, the next one about 4 minutes. So it’s pretty easy to get around with hitchhiking!
THE FOOD (AND BEER)
To have some traditional grilled Mici and crafted beer in the local brewery in Timisoara is a must, trust me. I recommend you to visit "Curtea Berarilor La Fabrica".
AND FOR SURE THE PEOPLE WE MET ALONG THE WAY
Everyone we met was super kind! The old man, we hitchhiked with that told us useful tips about these mountains. The Czech group that shared even more useful tips and invited us to join them by the fire. The three guys from Israel, that got caught by the ice storm on the top the other day, thanks again for the tea. The two older guys from Switzerland we shared shelter and couscous with. The kind man which plays drums in some famous Romanian band and his son bassist, thank you for a lift and 2-hour long conversation about politics, Top Gear, food, beer and all the other things.
In the end, it’s about the experience and the people you met along the way, not the beautiful places, right?
